Accommodations Toolbox: Speech
Accessing Content Verbally
Built-in accessibility tools support communication by providing multiple ways for students to express their thoughts. Features such as dictation, text-to-speech, and live speech allow students with speech or communication delays to participate, respond, and share ideas using alternative communication methods.
Speech-to-Text (Voice Typing/Dictation): Converts spoken words into written text, allowing users to type by speaking instead of using a keyboard.
Text-to-Speech (Typed Text Spoken Aloud): Reads typed or selected text aloud, giving users a voice for communication or comprehension.
Live Speech/Type-to-Talk: Allows users to type messages that are spoken aloud, supporting real-time conversations.
Word Prediction/Text Suggestions: Suggests words or phrases as the user types, making communication faster and easier.
