
Differentiate Learning with Diffit

Overview
Diffit is a tool that helps teachers create customized learning materials for their students. It utilizes AI to generate diverse versions of educational content, such as reading passages or questions, tailored to various skill levels. This way, every student can learn at their own pace and to their own ability. It’s like having a personal assistant for teachers to make learning more effective and fun for everyone!
Please note that this is an AI learning tool designed to enhance your lessons and tailor them to meet the needs of all learners.
Learning Objectives
Students will:
- Understand and retain information or subject matter through customized learning materials created by their teacher through Diffit, which will match their individual reading levels and learning needs.

Pre-planning
To prepare for this lesson:
1. There is always a free version of Diffit. This website will demonstrate the differences between the school and free versions.
2. To learn more about Diffit, view the Diffit Professional Development Slides- Dive Into Diffit.
3. If you are an elementary teacher, view the Updated Diffit Elementary One Pager - Google Slides
4. Create your account and explore Diffit.
5. Here is a how-to get started with Diffit How to Diffit - One Pager - Google Slides
6. Here is an article from Ducksters that can be copied into Diffit to try Kid's Biography: Martin Luther King, Jr.
7. Decide on what you want to differentiate for your students. It can be an article, a YouTube video, a vocabulary list, just about anything.
8. Copy the article, video, etc. link that you plan to use in Diffit.
9. Go to Diffit for Teachers
10. Paste the link copied from the resource chosen in step eight.
11. Select the grade level you want ( remember you can go back and create different reading levels for your students)
12. Select the language - This is an excellent resource for English Language Learner (ELL) students.
13. Optional- Select the type of reading.
14. Click GENERATE RESOURCES
NOTE: You may need to reiterate and alter the reading level and/or language based on your student’s individual needs.
15. Choose where you will put the resources created in Diffit (LMS, Google Classroom, etc)
16. Resources can be copied, shared, and printed.
17. Diffit will give you various activities. You can decide which ones to use with students.
18. These lessons could be used in station rotations as well.

Since this task card is for teachers to learn how to use Diffit, the teachers will create an activity to share with students.
- Instruct students with the necessary content to complete the activity.
- Share direction on where to access the resource/activity.
- Give work time for completion.
