Overview

Students will enjoy free interactive learning activities, games, facts, printable worksheets, quizzes, videos, and other fun resources that will keep students engaged while learning. The website is http://www.funenglishgames.com/.

Note: This can be used for kindergarten - eighth grade, depending on the topic.  

Students will:

  • Understand basic grammar.
  • Be able to review spelling, grammar, comprehension, etc. 

Vocabulary Words:

  1. Prefix: A prefix is part of a word or a word, within a word. 

  2. Suffix: A suffix is a letter or group of letters, that is added to the end of a root word.

  3. Verb: A verb tells about an action or state.

  4. Noun: A noun is a word or phrase that is the name of something (as a person, place, or thing.

  5. Adjective: An adjective describes a noun.

To prepare for this lesson:

  • Go to the Fun English Games website.  

  • Look around the website to become familiar with it.

  • Print off any worksheets that you would like the students to complete. 

  • Save the website on Google Classroom or have the students bookmark it.

Directions for this activity:

  1. Do a quick review of some grammar in the classroom e.g., nouns, verbs, adjectives, prefixes, suffixes.  

  2. Students can either bookmark the website or you can assign it in Google Classroom.  

  3. Students will choose a game to play that they need some extra practice on.  You can also tell students which ones you want them to focus on.

  4. When students feel like they have understood the skill, you can give them one of the printed off quizzes or worksheets.

Different options for assessing the students:

  • Check for understanding
  • Observations - see how well they do on the games.
  • There is a quiz and answers at the bottom of the page for students to check.  http://www.funenglishgames.com/quizzes.html or you can print them for student use.
