The Daily News
Overview
In 5th grade, students can begin researching and interviewing others on topics for a weekly or monthly newsletter for the school. The students will learn interviewing techniques as well as become better writers.
Using either a Google Docs template or a Word template, the students can easily fill in the blanks with stories and images. Learning how to use the template should only be a 20-30 minutes activity, but the creation and writing of the newsletter will take several class periods each month.
Learning Objectives
Students will:
- Be able to write stories for a weekly or monthly newsletter.
- Be able to use a template to create the newsletter.

Vocabulary Words:
- Template: A template is a file that serves as a starting point for a new document.
