REMC and MACUL are hiring a Digital Marketing and Design Specialist

Are you a creative digital marketing and design professional passionate about education? We are seeking a talented individual to support the communications, marketing, and messaging efforts for two prominent Michigan educational organizations: the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) and the Regional Educational Media Center Association (REMC) of Michigan.
This unique opportunity allows an individual to apply for either a position focused solely on MACUL, a position focused solely on REMC, or a combined role supporting both organizations. Please indicate your preference in your application.

The Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) has a 50-year history of supporting PK-16 education in Michigan by providing learning opportunities, resources, and professional development around the effective use of technology. MACUL Digital Marketing & Design Specialist - Scope of Work (up to 600 hours/year)
Under the leadership of the Executive Director and Board of Directors, this role will be instrumental in expanding MACUL’s digital presence and fulfilling its mission. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive digital marketing strategies, including branding and graphic elements, across multiple channels (email, newsletters, social media, web properties, event solutions).
- Creating engaging digital content and graphics to raise awareness, drive membership growth, and engage our audience.
- Managing and maintaining MACUL's social media campaigns and implementing a consistent social media content calendar.
- Working with Executive Directors, Staff, and Board to ensure consistent and cohesive messaging across all platforms.
- Utilizing data analytics to inform marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Designing and creating effective graphic design elements for all marketing materials, web properties, and digital platforms, with a focus on accessibility and audience engagement.
- Conducting regular audits of digital properties (social media, web, digital tools) to ensure a leading-edge digital presence.
- Supporting professional learning opportunities through effective digital design and accurate publications.
- Providing images and graphics for all email campaigns, social media platforms, newsletters, and event solutions (mobile apps, badge printing, signage).
About REMC
The Regional Educational Media Center Association (REMC) of Michigan is a 510(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1969. Its members are 28 local regional educational media centers. REMC provides proactive leadership to the Michigan educational community, supports quality teaching and learning, promotes the effective use of educational technology, and ensures equity to Michigan's pre-K-12 educational community through its Educator Resources, Professional Learning, REMC SAVE program, and partnerships.
REMC Digital Marketing & Design Specialist - Scope of Work (up to 260 hours/year)
This role will support the Communications Coordinator with outreach and engagement of REMC’s social media platforms. Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to comments and feedback on REMC social media platforms.
- Building connections with users and fostering engagement with REMC.
- Tracking and analyzing social post performance.
- Providing innovative ideas to engage users with REMC/REMC SAVE.
- Contributing input into content creation for REMC.
Position Expectations (for both roles)
- Creation of social media posts and digital content as needed (weekly/monthly).
- Collaboration with Directors of Communications and Membership on newsletters, emails, and web content.
- Regular communication with Executive Directors and Directors of Communications and Membership to align on content vision, branding, posting, and analytics.
- Submission of monthly analytics reports to the board.
- Regular reviews of digital properties for accuracy and timeliness.
- Application of graphic design tools in support of content creation and marketing materials.
- Recommendations to Executive Director for event marketing and content generation.
- Participation in required organizational activities (virtual or in-person, including Board meetings, committee meetings, conferences, and events).
- Collaboration with staff, Board members, and contractors to execute strategies.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, technological savvy with an eye for design, reliability, timeliness, ability to meet deadlines, a collaborative spirit, self-starter mentality, multi-tasking abilities, marketing skills for event registration and execution, experience in the education industry, and a customer service mindset.
Demonstrated experience in any of the following areas is highly valued:
- Social Media platforms (content and graphics)
- Web Solutions (CMS, HTML, WordPress, Elementor)
- Virtual Platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, other technologies)
- Multimedia Applications, Mobile Technologies, Apple and Google Environments
- Web and Social Media Analytics (Google Analytics, AdWords, YouTube, Social Media)
- Graphic Design Tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, XD, WordPress, Canva, HTML Based Solutions)
- Newsletter/Email Solutions (MailChimp, Constant Contact, WYSIWYG, BeePro, Canva, etc.)
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Education, or a related field.
- At least two years of demonstrated experience in digital marketing and graphic design, especially related to the education field.
Compensation & Working Conditions
- MACUL: Up to 600 hours per year (averaging 10-12 hours/week), with heavier workloads from August to March and lighter from April to July. This is an independent contract position
- REMC: Up to 260 hours per year (approximately 3-5 hours/week). This is an independent contract position
- The contractor will work from a home office environment and provide necessary tools (computer, internet) and supplies. MACUL and REMC will provide access to their regularly utilized software.
- MACUL will require in-person dates for monthly board meetings and on-site for events such as the Annual Conference, Student Technology Showcase, other MACUL sponsored conferences and the retreat in May.
