Q2 Safe and Smart Artifact

14. Social Networking

GOAL: Demonstrate your knowledge of how to be Safe and Smart online by creating an Artifact.

DIRECTIONS

Check with your teacher about:

  1. working with a partner or forming small groups (3-4).
  2. deciding which activity your group will select to demonstrate your knowledge of being Safe and Smart Online
  3. using three or more of the Safe and Smart Resources.
  4. turning in and/or presenting your Safe and Smart Artifact.

ARTIFACT IDEAS

  • Create a Safety Poster: Create a poster (or Padlet) highlighting important social media safety tips. Use drawings, colors, and catchy phrases to make it eye-catching. Explore how this can be shared with others to help them.

  • Role-Playing Scenarios: In pairs, create role-playing scenarios where one person pretends to be someone online, and the other has to decide how to respond. Then discuss whether the response demonstrates social responsibility. This can help you practice making smart choices in real-life situations.

  • Social Media Safety Quiz: Create a quiz for your classmates about social media safety. Include questions about the risks of sharing personal information, how to report inappropriate behavior, and what to do if they experience cyberbullying. Follow the quiz with input about the answer choices and their importance for being safe and smart.

  • Social Media Story or Video: Create a short 3-4 minute video using your digital device resources or online applications such as Canva or Book Creator. Create an outline of the points you feel are important, be sure to do several practice sessions. Including some personal experiences is helpful for the audience.
