1. Play the video, Social Media, Social Life: Teens Reveal Their Experiences (3:17) embedded on this page. 

2.  When the video is done, talk with another classmate (shoulder partner) about the following: 

  • If you or someone you know has had similar experiences: 
    • Jot down and create a list of at least two positive and two negative experiences that you have had or are aware others have had using Social Media

3. Check with your teacher about discussing or sharing your list with the class.

Have you experienced a "red flag" when using social media? Learn what it is and what to do about it.  Explore how social media platforms are designed to keep your attention and ways to form healthy social media habits.

  1. Download or copy. and open this 14.Q2 Social Media TestDrive Directions document to use when completing the Healthy Social Media Habits (commonsense.org) module.
  2. This module activity will take between 20 to 30 minutes to complete.  Some things to consider as you go through the module are.
    • What is attention-grabbing design?
    • Can you share an example of a feedback loop you have experienced in your life?
    • How can you build healthy media habits?

When you have completed the module, check with your teacher about providing a screenshot of the quiz at the end of the module.
