Browser Gymnastics
Step 1: Copy or download this 1.Q2 Browser Shortcuts. Your task is to discover how to carry out some more advanced shortcuts with your browser, such as:
- Zoom in and out
- Making a new tab or window
- Find text on a page
- View the web browsing history
- Jump to the address bar
Complete the table by listing the shortcuts in the table provided.
Step 2: Add your favorite shortcuts, what they do, and what you like about them in the last section.
Step 3: Discuss as a class or partner to compare

Step 1: Begin with a class discussion about the Web Browsers
- What search engine do you use most often and why?
- Do you think all search engines give you the same information? Why or why not?
Step 2: You will work with a partner or a small group on this activity. One of you will copy or download this Web browser Showdown document. Check with your teacher on how much time you have. Follow the directions provided in the document to complete the activity.
Step 3: Discuss the results as a class.
- Were there any surprises?
- Did you change your mind about your favorite browser search engine? If so why?
- Share one or two interesting findings.
- How might the differences between Google and Bing affect your research or understanding for a research paper topic? Should you use multiple search engines to get a more comprehensive view? Why or why not?
