Key Vocabulary

Counterfeit: Counterfeit is a fake version of a product made to look exactly like a real trusted brand, created to trick people into buying it. 

Connection Type: A connection type is the specific way equipment links together or connects to a computer. Common types include wireless (Bluetooth), USB-C, or XLR (a standard cable used for professional audio microphones). 

Directional Microphone: A directional microphone is designed to pick up sound mostly from the direction it is pointed while blocking out background noise—perfect for focusing on a speaker in a busy hallway. 

Grant: A grant is money given to a person, school, or organization to help pay for a project or goal, which doesn’t have to be paid back. 

Lavalier (Lav) Microphone: A lav microphone is tiny and clips onto a person's clothing right near their mouth. 

LED Video Light: An LED video light is portable, such as a ring light or LED panel, used to brighten the subject of a video. 

Resolution: The resolution is the amount of detail a camera can capture, usually measured in pixels (such as 1080p High Definition or 4K). 

SD Card (Secure Digital Card): An SD card is a small, removable memory card used in digital cameras and audio recorders.

Specifications (Specs): The specs are a detailed description of the technical features of a piece of equipment, such as battery life, connection types, weight, and included accessories. 

Storage Capacity: The storage capacity is the amount of digital space available to save video and audio files, usually measured in Gigabytes (GB) or Terabytes (TB) on devices like SD cards or hard drives. 

Stabilizer (or Gimbal): A stabilizer (or gimbal) is a tool or device used to hold a camera or smartphone steady while the camera operator is moving, preventing shaky, distracting video footage.
