Q4 Online Safety in Action: Think Before You Share

6. Cyber Smart

What’s in Your Footprint?

Before you dive in, imagine this: if a total stranger could peek at just your online activity from the last week, what would they know about you? They might figure out your favorite games, the videos you binge, or even what you’ve been shopping for.

That’s because everything you do online leaves a trail—your digital footprint. This trail is often made with tiny trackers called cookies that websites use to follow what you do.

In this quest, you’ll practice deciding what information is safe to share and who it’s safe to share it with. Then, you’ll use what you’ve learned to help design ways to teach players in your game how to guard their online privacy.

Discussion questions to think about as you play the video below:

  • What are positive things that might be part of someone’s digital footprint?
  • What are negative things that might be part of someone’s digital footprint?
