Who gets your folders and Files
The Share settings of your files in your Google Drive can be a lot like the different people in a restaurant. As a class or in groups depending on your teachers instructions, go through Welcome to the Kitchen! together.

Before you click "Share," you need to know your options:
- Just need someone to read it? Make them a Viewer.
- Need feedback without them changing your words? Make them a Commenter.
- Building something together? Make them an Editor.
Having shared access to files requires use of your digital citizenship skills. When someone makes you an Editor, they are trusting you with their hard work. Being a good digital citizen means never deleting someone else's work without asking, using the Commenter tool to suggest changes politely, and remembering that everything you type leaves a digital footprint.
The Permissions Path Game
Let's see what you've learned about sharing settings! Group up with your classmates to play The Permission Path game. Check with your teacher on grouping instructions.
Step 1. Prep the Game.
- You will need to print out, cut and fold the Challenge Cards (pages two, three, and four on the site linked below) needed for the game. Your teacher may already have them printed out for you.
- You will also need a copy of The Permission Path (first page on the site linked below).
- The Permissions Path Game Resources.
Step 2. One person in your group will need to open the digital dice. Select the four-sided option to use for your turns to move down the path.
Step 3. Test Your Knowledge.
- When you land on a space, a member of the group will read you a card from that category. You'll face questions on Ownership, Permissions, and Citizenship. Answer correctly to stay put, or move back to the last spot you were correct, if you miss it.
- Race your group to the Cloud Core!

Practice sharing a file in Drive. Share your Drive Organization Certificate of Completion you added to your Drive in the last activity with your teacher or whomever they instruct you to share it with. Add this person as a “Viewer”.
