Q1 Your Personal Compass: Connecting Values

20. Global Changemakers

Connecting your values

Every great team—whether it’s a championship sports team or a group working on a class project—runs on a set of core values. But here’s the thing: everyone brings a different set of strengths and values to the table.

Today, you’re going to figure out your personal core values using a street-art value sort.

Step 1. Once in the Q1 Value Tagging app, you will complete the following tasks:

  • Sort the Tag Deck: You’ll start with 25 value stickers. Drag each one into a bucket: Must-Have, Nice to Have, or Not Essential.
  • Lock in Your Top 5: From your top piles, narrow it down to your 5 absolute core values.
  • Complete the Teamwork Reflection with complete thoughtful sentences.
  • Select Generate Certificate.
  • Now, go into the Q1 Value Tagging app to begin.

Step 3. Reflect on the following group discussion questions based on your teachers instructions.

  • How might two people with very different strengths from "Your Top 5" list actually work better together than two people who are similar?
  • Has a misunderstanding ever happened on a team because people came from different backgrounds or had different values? What helped fix it?
  • What's one way our team can make sure everyone's identity actually get used, not just noticed?
