Key Vocabulary
Alignment: Alignment is how text is positioned between the page margins, such as left-aligned, centered, or right-aligned.
Bold: Bold refers to a text style that makes letters thicker and darker to add emphasis.
Document: A document is the digital file used to create and organize written information.
Font: The font is the size and appearance of text. A font includes a typeface, size, color, and style.
Footer: A footer is an area at the bottom of each page that can contain information such as page numbers, dates, or a document title.
Formatting: Formatting means to change the appearance or arrangement of text to make a document organized and easy to read.
Grammar Check: A grammar check tool identifies possible errors in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Header: A header is the area at the top of each page that can contain information such as a title, name, date, or page number.
Highlight: A highlight tool adds color behind text to draw attention to important information.
Italics: Italics is a text style that slants letters to add emphasis or identify certain titles and words.
Media & Elements: Media & Elements are pictures, videos, shapes, charts, and other items added to a document to support the text.
Page Number: A page number is placed in the header or footer to show the order of the pages.
Spell Check: Spell check is a tool that identifies words that may be spelled incorrectly and suggests corrections.
Structure: Structure is the way a document’s information is organized and arranged.
Text Color: The text color is the color of the letters and words in a document.
Title: The title is the name of a document or section, usually formatted to stand out from the rest of the text.
Translate: To translate means to change text from one language into another language.
Underline: To underline, places a line beneath words to add emphasis.
Version History: The version history is a record of earlier versions of a document that shows when changes were made and, in shared documents, who made them.
Visual Style: Visual style is the overall look of a document, including its fonts, colors, spacing, and design.
Word Count: The word count tool calculates the number of words in a document or selected section.
Word Processing: Word Processing is using a digital tool to create, edit, format, and save written documents.
