Activity 2: The Weasel Hunt

With your Media Club Team:

Step 1. The Advertiser's Claim

  • Read each claim in the Weasel Hunt document with your group.
  • What is the company actually promising? Rewrite each one as a plain, honest sentence.
  • Now open, copy, and save (download & same) The Weasel Hunt doc.

Step 2. Team Discussion

  • None of these statements is a lie. So why do they feel misleading?

Activity 3: Slogan Lab

Your Media Club needs a slogan. In your group:

Step 1. Write three possible slogans for your Media Club — short enough to remember, specific enough to mean something.

Step 2. Trade with another group. Can they tell what your Media Club actually does from the slogan alone?

Step 3. Pick your best one and add it to your Student Portfolio.

Watch for: If your slogan works just as well for a shoe company, a bank, and a cereal, it's a glittering generality. Make it yours!
